One of Newcastle city centre's most famous bars, Popworld, has confirmed plans to open much earlier than usual

It's one of Newcastle's most popular haunts when the sun goes down, but Popworld will soon welcome revellers when the sun is still very much in the sky, as it announces plans to open all day.

If you've ever been in the vicinity of the Bigg Market late on a Saturday afternoon, you may well have heard choruses of Freed From Desire, Livin' On a Prayer or Sweet Caroline sounding out from the famous bar as stags, hens and locals get into their festivities nice and early. But on Saturday, June 18, there'll be a chance to get your Popworld fix even earlier, just as we get set for a few days of warm weather,.

Taking to Facebook on Wednesday afternoon to share an image of its new outdoor space, complete with on brand black and silver chairs and tables, Popworld wrote: "Just a few more days until our All Day Pop Party begins!. From Saturday we’ll be opening our outdoor area from 12pm so whether your starting the Party early or just fancy a few chilled drinks we’ve got you covered.

"Open from 12pm till 2am with FREE ENTRY all night"

As you'd expect, given how long Popworld has been a staple of Newcastle's nightlife scene, the reaction to the post was huge, especially with Popworld confirming that the 12 noon opening will now happen every Saturday! One fan responded: "we'd go at 12 and still be there at 2," while another tagging their mate in and adding: "Bet you can’t wait to spend your whole Saturday here."

A third commented: "pop world all day sesh!"

Another big draw of Popworld's All Day Pop Party, as well as getting a hearty portion of cheesy music in the afternoon, is the fact that there are half price drinks between 12 and 4pm.
